title: “Anker充电宝召回:我手中两个都中招了” date: 2025-06-26T22:23:51+08:00 slug: anker-powerbank-recall-2025 tags: []

I recently saw discussions in a group about an Anker power bank recall. Out of curiosity I followed the official guidance to check, and unexpectedly both of my Anker power banks are within the recall scope. I haven’t been through this before, so I’m documenting my recall application and the key details here.

My Power Banks

I currently use 3 power banks: two are Anker 10,000 mAh and one is a Xiaomi 20,000 mAh.

How to Submit a Recall

Here’s how to confirm whether your unit is covered and how to submit a recall request.

Find your model

First confirm the exact model. You can find it on the back of the power bank, or check the order details on the platform you used to purchase it. I checked JD → Orders → Product details and confirmed my Anker units are model 1642.

Note: Getting the exact model is the first step. If the model doesn’t match, the recall does not apply.

Recall process overview

The process has four steps:

  1. Submit the recall application
  2. Wait for Anker to mail you a protective return bag
    Anker专用保护袋
  3. Place the old power bank in the bag and return it
  4. Receive compensation based on the option you chose

Detailed application steps

Submit your application on Anker’s recall site: https://recall.anker.com.cn/recall-form/?_=1750768444099

Prepare and fill out the following:

  1. Power bank SN (serial number)

  2. Proof of purchase — invoice or purchase screenshot, as long as it shows the amount and product info. It’s not mandatory to have an invoice. Mine were older purchases and reissuing invoices would be a hassle, so I used JD order detail screenshots.

    • Example JD order detail screenshot:

  3. Order number — the order ID from your purchase

Important: Units of the same model are not necessarily all covered. Anker determines recall eligibility by SN (batch). Only specific batches are included.

Compensation options

If your unit qualifies, Anker offers three options:

  1. Original purchase amount + ¥50 no‑threshold Anker Store coupon
  2. Full refund for the original order amount
  3. Free upgrade to the 3‑in‑1 power bank retailing at ¥279 (model A1637)

My take: I find Option 2 (full refund) the most practical. While Option 3’s replacement has a higher retail price, the real value may not match the MSRP, and it does not support MagSafe wireless charging. If your original power bank supports wireless charging, the replacement may not meet your needs.

Since both of my Ankers qualify, I chose different options to try: one with Option 2 (refund) and the other with Option 3 (replacement).

After choosing a compensation option and submitting, just wait for the protective bag and return the old unit as instructed.

Background

Official reason for the recall

During recent quality and safety checks, we found that a supplier changed raw materials for certain batches of industry‑standard cells without approval. This may cause, in very rare cases, separator insulation failure after long‑term cycling, leading to overheating or even combustion risks.

Notably, this is not unique to Anker. Multiple brands using cells from the same batches have issued similar recalls with essentially the same description. This indicates the issue lies with the upstream cell supplier rather than brand‑specific design or manufacturing.

Latest developments and impact

To ensure flight safety, the Civil Aviation Administration issued an urgent notice: starting June 28, passengers are prohibited from carrying power banks on domestic flights that lack a CCC mark, have an unclear CCC mark, or belong to recalled models or batches.

Note: For models under recall, this applies regardless of whether your specific batch is listed. This rule is stricter than the brand recall scope. If you own an affected model and plan to fly, it’s best not to bring that power bank.

How to check the CCC certification

You can find the CCC mark on the power bank itself. I checked mine and found one Anker without the CCC mark and the other with it. Why would big brands have units without CCC? The answer: No CCC doesn’t necessarily mean unsafe, but under current rules such units cannot be carried on flights.

CCC certification started on August 1, 2023. After a one‑year transition, from August 1, 2024 onward, related products without a CCC certificate and mark may not be shipped, sold, imported, or used in commercial activities.

Final Thoughts

Safety Recommendations

  1. Check promptly: If you have an Anker power bank, immediately check the model and SN to confirm recall eligibility. Safety first, even if it appears to work fine today.

  2. On brand choices: In a previous post — “Real‑world experience: my current favorite power bank” — I recommended Anker. While this recall is unexpected, there’s no need to write off the brand entirely. The root cause is at the upstream cell supplier and affects multiple brands, not Anker alone.

In short, don’t ignore safety issues with electronics. I hope this helps you understand the recall and take timely steps to protect yourself.
